Chemtane

I've been lampworking since Jan 08 and just switched to the 30lb tank of chemtane. I'm a little worried about using it since I've been on the bottled mapps all this time. Worried about safety and fumes. I have a 100 ft studio and windows to the garage plus ceiling fan. I know I need to get an exaust fan hooked up. Any other imput would be greatly appreciated. In one of the postings about the Mapp/pro I found it to be not as hot as mapps. Of course its a smaller tank but costs the same. I make mermaids and goddesses plus other larger pieces and have found that the Mapp/Pro doesn't heat the glass as well. Thanks alot Crystal K

You should be happy with the chemtane. When I was on a HH, I used it in a tank. The gas guy told me that it burns cleaner and hotter than MAPP. I did notice a difference.

Hi Leah,

thanks for reply. Was having trouble lighthing the HH.I have a reg on the tank and some kind people in the chat room said for me to take reg off. What psi were you running?
