does anyone know what the measurement size (3/8", 1/4") are the threaded hose ends that come on our hoses.

all i have been able to find are that they are "b" style fittings.

"B" style fitting are .5625- 18 UNF (Unified Fine Thread),

Left hand thread for fuel - CGA 023
Right hand thread for oxygen - CGA 022

http://www.concoa.com/index.php?pagetype=showRef&id=11&ref=1

Note also on this site (details page) the CGA 023 is labeled as a OXYGEN connection which is incorrect. CGA 023 is for FUEL GAS

http://www.concoa.com/index.php?pagetype=showRef&id=11&ref=10&cga=023

Note left-hand thread nuts have a groove around HEX portion where wrench fits..

Dale, I gave an LE member some quick connects (they were sent by mistake by a supplier instead of the fittings I ordered.) The quick connects are Western Enterprises Torch to Hose connections. I thought that this LE member might be able to use them but she says she has barb fittings on her torch and the QC won't fit on (they have been posted but are still in transit). Rather than have them sit in her drawer somewhere, can she get fittings that will fit these QCs anyway so she can use them? As I am in Australia, I don't know what is available to her. This is the reply I received from the manufacturer

The quick connects you received were for Torch to Hose. The fuel thread size
is 9/16 and the Oxygen/Inert Gas thread size is 5/8.
I wondered if she could get the right sized fittings to connect to the hose ends so she could use these as a hose to hose set?

Thanks so much
Kym

This statement does not make sense as both oxygen and fuel fittings to be "B" size must be 9/16-18 UNF (or .5625 inch))

There are barbed/threaded connector available and by putting a short hose on barb connection on torch and other end of short hose with thread connector, you can use the quick disconnects and flashback arrestors....

Go to this site and scroll down a bit and find barbed connectors labeled as items as "A2"...

http://www.sundanceglass.com/gas%20equipment-r.htm

These are a "common" welding hose end.....

Other option may be to remove barbed connectors on torch and replace them with proper "B" style fitting that will accept threaded connections on hoses...

Scrolling down further on above site to "Manifolds" to items 32 & 33 to replace barbed fitting on torch with threaded...

FYI...It appears new Minor torches from Nortel may have threaded connections instead of barbed connections...

Dale,

Thanks for responding. I thought it was weird too but the thread on the male ends which go the the torch side actually don't fit a B fitting. When they arrived to me, I had ordered them with the A2 fittings and they don't screw in properly into the A2's. Well one end does screw in but it is a very loose fit and doesn't seal. Mmm I think the website says these sometimes fit an 8M or something torch. Well thats a shame if she can't get adapters cause she sure could have used these to make her life a littler easier.
Thanks anyway

What I find disconcerting is that all the connectors and quick disconnects and flashback arrestors are carry over from welding industry where they have been "standard" for MANY MANY years ( at least in US) so I don't understand the "missmatch"...

I realize you are "Down Under" but all the torches and hoses and parts from US manufacturing sources should all match ....

It was a bit confusing to me too. You should have seen me scratching my head because I already had some of the same ones I had ordered and they fit fine with the A2's. It was until I lined them up against the ones I already had that I realised they were different thread ends. Well, I might send her back to Western Enterprises to see what they say about some sort of adapter similar to the A2 that might fit.

Thanks again Dale
