Hello, I'm Erika. I am planning on buying a torch pretty soon here, most likely a Cheetah. I have already been given a lot of informaion about it but I just want to be sure the torch will fit me. I like to know how it does with tubing and small pipes. I will be using heavy/medium wall tubing and some rod. I would also like to know if I can do some small detail. If anyone knows a hole bunch about the Cheetah or uses it, it would be great to get some details about it. Thanks
Hi Erika :) I have worked on both a Lynx and a Cheetah and as far as I'm concerned, you really can't go wrong with either one. The cheetah does have a broader flame. the downside is that the pinner isn't quite as tight as the one the lynx has. That being said, it still has a great pinpoint flame on it. If you plan to do a lot of inside-out stuff, you might consider the lynx for that fantastic pinpoint. I have heard of pipe makers using a lynx and they have made some great stuff on it.
It will take longer to make a pipe on a lynx or cheetah than, say, a Mirage (the torch I normally work on) but it can definitely be done. The GTTs have a penetrating heat that really helps when you are working pieces larger than what a torch that size could usually handle.
I love my cheetah. I do fairly large solid sculpture work on it with no problems at all. The flame is just shy of twice the size of a lynx. Like I said, the only thing missing is the super tight pinner but it does still get down to a nice tight pinpoint.
Good luck with your decision! :D

Hello Erika ....I use a Cheetah and it does everything I ask it to do. It is the workhorse of my marble biz. I use it to do everything from 1/2" to 2" marbles and I pull cane with it too... Provided you feed it enough O2, you should have no trouble at all.. GTT simply makes the best torch out there..period....Everyone else is playing catch up. Within it's price range, the Cheetah is probably the most versatile powerful torch you can buy.
