Okay, I hope I don't confuse anyone here, but I am thinking of switching from a Mini CC to a Minor. I am having a difficult time with the bushy flame and thought maybe I can get better stringer control with a minor. So, I am hoping someone can post a picture of their minor torch, specifically how the hoses connect. I do not want to just "push on" the hoses and use those hose clamps. I want them to be able to "screw" on because I have my flashback arrestors on my torch end. Does that make sense. I am still a newbie (approximately 1 year now) and my mini CC came with the hoses already attached to it, so I have no idea what the connectors on the torch actually looked like. Before I went and took my torch apart, I thought I would post here first.

Is it just a matter of getting a few connector pieces or is it even possible. Am I crazy to want to switch? I have tried turning the flame way down to a pin point, but it seems like then the bead itself gets too cool and sometimes even cracks, I wish I could try working on someone Minor first, but I don't know anyone in my area that has one. Anyway, any feedback or insight would be immensely appreciated. Thank you so much in advance!!!

I personally think you get better stringer control with a mini cc, working in the radiant heat from that bushy flame you can get...
minor seems a little more focused, not as much radiant heat..
I have both, but I love the cc..
thing is dont work directly in the flame, work behind it or to the side of it the mini gives off plenty of radiant heat..

Its quite possible you can have the push-on connectors on a minor replaced with a threaded "b" size connectors...

The new Mega Minor appears to come with "b" sized threaded connectors...

Nortel makes the Minor burner (as well as the Mega Minor) with either the barbed fittings or the threaded fittings. You just need to specify which you want when you buy your torch. Mind you, not all suppliers will have both styles in stock, so you may have to shop around.

If you end up with a Minor burner with barbed fittings, you can still use your flashback arrestors ... you'll just have to buy (or make) a short plain hose-to-threaded fitting adapter. It's nothing more than a short piece of hose and a threaded fitting.

Now, as to whether to switch torches or not, that's up to you. Have you worked on a Minor burner before? Do you like it? That's what's really important.

Put your flashback arrestors at your regulators. Problem solved.

But, personally, I think you are better off with a Mini CC than a Minor.

I don't think you will find that another torch will solve your problem. You will have to work on where you are in the flame. No quick solutions for this one, I think. I have had a few torches and always when they are new, I am back trying to find the 'sweet spot' to apply stringer.
