I just purchased a used Mid Range and need to know if a m15 oxy
concentrator will be enough to feed it and a Mega minor. Room is well ventilated and am running propane. Do I have enough oxy power to run both torches. Inquiring minds need to know. Thanks
Short answer is no.
It will run the Mega Minor by itself. It will run the Mid Range sort of by itself. But wont' run both of them together very well at all.
Running multiple torches, you probably want to consider tanked oxygen.

Hay Cosmo thanks for the information. I have another question. I finally fired up the Mid Range and it works however I can smell propane coming out of the fuel valve. Would putting teflon tape around the connectors help keep it from leaking. Thanks in advance. Steve
Yes, if that's where it's leaking. I would try some soapy water on all the connections and see which one is leaking first though.

One note about the Midrange on propane. No matter what you do, it's going to burn DIRTY (soot balls). I love my Midrange, but this is a problem. :( Keep a simple flat tool at hand so you can scrape the face of the torch periodically. I set up a small piece of mirror far in front of my torch so I could see the face and be more aware of the buildup. Make sure you have your work OUT of the flame when you scrape the face, or it will pick up the soot buildup.
It burns MUCH cleaner on NG, if you ever have the chance to switch.
Mine has been running for over a year without needing cleaning. I've never seen a Nortel that built up much carbon. Sounds to me like you don't have enough oxygen or are running too small of a flame.

When I was running on tanks I used about 8 psi oxygen to 2 psi propane. You can see my current configuration in my sigline. MUCH cleaner now. I was warned about this problem by several people, but when I first bought it in '99 it suited me just fine regardless (and I was on NG back in PA). Oh, and I've always used a larger flame, that's why I bought the Midrange in the first place. I've worked on a Minor (before I got the Midrange) and a Red Max at other places...neither of them have this problem.
I think that's why. I run my oxygen at 30 psi (40 when I'm working dichroic). 8 is way too low for a torch that size.
