It works fine. But, I don't think you need it. I have no problem working any of the colors out there on my CC without the optimizer.

Hi Cosmos

Thanks for the reply
I was also figuring that i probably do not need it

but i am intrigued by the sales writeup
about saving oxygen : )
http://www.mountainglassarts.com/s.nl/it.A/id.1574/.f

and the cc currently on ebay comes equipped with it !!

I haven't seen where it saves any oxygen...

my calculation is that if i were to run compress air i/o oxygen
thru the outer fire oxy port to keep the torch cool
when i am using only the center fire
there might be some oxygen savings : )

but anyway, the optimizer does not do that
it runs the air thru the gas ports.

i have limited experience with other torches
but is the cc really such an oxygen hog
as compared to other torches ?

which torch do you think is the most oxygen efficent
in the size of the cc ?

Well, efficiency is kind of hard to determine. I guess you could look at flow rates and all that, but it depends on how you work really. Any torch that size will go through oxygen pretty quickly, no matter what the manufacturers say.

The optimizer isn't really for oxygen savings. It's made to change flame chemistry to allow you to work picky colors more easily. However, I don't think you need it. I can work crayon colors all day long on my torch without boiling them. It's all in how you work it, not what torch you are using.

Do you use a foot pedal? Instant oxy savings right there!
