I'm intrigued by this little torch. I've heard some great things and may want to ad it to my collection while the introductory price is still good. I just have one question... is it made in the US? Not just assembled, but parts and all made here?

I figure with all of the out sourcing these days, I'd like to make sure our dollars are staying put. I'm pretty sure the answer is yes... I'm hoping so.

I think it's a Willy and Wally made torch....

They're USA, right?

GTT started that way... just want to double check with everything going on in our economy. I hope they are made by US workers. ;)

I was origionally looking at a bigger torch than my Cuda, but now i think I'll hold off, so why not get a Cricket for my kids to use? I have room for two stations. Plus I may do more public demos locally.

You can rest easy, Brent. All GTT torches, including the Cricket, are made right here in the good ol US of A. We wouldn't have it any other way. From start to finish, every part is made and assembled here.

ETA: Torch building is too risky a business to farm out. We wouldn't want to gamble on anyone's safety and GTT quality is a source of pride.

I'm all for you getting a Cricket and doing more public demos....Any in Orlando or near bye anytime soon????

Does anyone know how long the introductory price will be good for....money is tight but this looks like such a nice torch for the money to pass it up...

I was hoping that was the answer! Yay!

Now, how long is that offer gonna last? Gotta get my order in before then. I think the kids will love their own torch and if they don't, I'll have something I can run on one concentrator for demos. :D

Not sure when or where... just thinking I need to do more local stuff. I get flown all over the country to teach, but here, I'm pretty much a hermit.

I'm not sure how long the introductory offer will last. I'll have to ask Wally about that. But, even at the regular price, it's still a great deal for what that torch can do.

Just buy 'em already, Brent :)

I spent some time with mine and the concentrator tonight making some boro hummingbird feeder tubes (recycling point handles), pulling rods and making beads with wine bottle glass, and then I had some wine bottle rods left over so I made a little green off mandrel figure. All on my single 5 lpm unit, with no breathing, a consistent flame that didn't burn the soft glass and handled the boro just fine. I still hook up my redmax for the larger and blown boro stuff, but for soft and small boro my national is officially retired in favor of the Cricket.

You people are killing me!
I went on and on with my husband..."Oh, I will never want anything more than my Mini cc." "The Mini cc will be perfect for me. I can't imagine wanting another torch"
Last night I gave him the whole low down on the Cricket.
As he said, "Really, sounds like a great torch." His face said so much more.

I didn't tell my boyfriend that I ordered Cricket :P I showed him when it arrived. He kinda upset why I bought another torch but calmed down after I told him that I will sell my minor :P (lucky he has no idea that I was thinking to get lynx or cheetah)

My husband can see where this is going. I will continue to talk about the Cricket. Basically, I am justifying to myself the purchase of a new torch out load. He knows this. So, when I finally say, "Honey, I am buying that torch I have been telling you about." He will say, "It is about time!"

I'd like one for a second station too. Unfortunately we are on propane. :pout: Someday I'll find the right choice. (Such as another bobcat. ;) )

The Cricket runs on propane, too (no trying to talk you out of another Bobcat, though ;)).

Hi Kimberly,
I have an M20 Oxygen Unlimited concentrator. It does run well with my mini cc now. Do you think it could run two crickets at the same time? Thanks...Not like need another torch or two, but it was fate that I opened this thread.

Kimberly,

Will that puppy run on house pressure natural gas. I am almost hoping you will say no 'cause I am having some serious torch envy.

Thanks,
Alison

Allison,
Check out the other thread, "please post pictures of the cricket". Some of the people that have already purchased the torch are running on ng.

Is it really hotter than the bobcat? Or did I mis read that somewhere?

I am wondering that too Bethany. I've been toying with buying one. They had two at Hot Times and they are great torches.

I love my cricket! It works boro like soft glass, easy as butter, although I haven't tried larger pieces yet. Implosions are so easy with this torch.

By the way, it really irks me that we should feel guilty about buying anything. Why should some guy, husband or boyfriend, have so much power over our tools? If we think we should enjoy the use of a better torch, or more glass, whatever, so be it. I have common sense, to a degree, about spending money on glass materials, and I have goals to strive for, which require that I upgrade on some things, or stay abreast of other glass people with new materials.

Glass is a process and we are very engaged in it. We make money with our products, and if we are lucky the beads can support the artform and its demands. I am sure there are lots of times when all of us have decided to forego certain tempting items for lack of money. I for example have a very small amount of dichro on hand, and very little of the new silver glass.

And yet when my little Cricket arrived, after I unpacked it I hid it in my studio (it is pretty bright) for several days until hooking it up, because I didn't want my son to be ragging on me about buying a new torch.:wtf: It is my money, my house, and if he paid his rent on time I could have more real dinners at night, instead of budgeting to buy a torch. I just hate that!

I don't feel guilty at all. I have one of those husbands that pushes me to explore my art and to buy the things I want and need to do so. I'm the problem. I feel guilty because I don't really need a new torch. I want it and may buy it just because. I feel like a brat.
