Surface Design and Sculpture in Glass Beadmaking

In this class, students learn the techniques that are the core of Sylvie's bead designs: Surface Decoration and Sculptural Techniques.
The demonstrations and lecture will include:
Creating fancy encased cane for use in surface designs such as florals and landscapes
The use of dichroic glass, enamels, reduction frit, pixie dusts, silver, gold and palladium leaf as Surface Decoration elements as well as their use for expanding the soft glass color palette.
Exploration of sculputral bead shapes such as dragonflies and fish.
Finally, combining these techniques of sculpture and decoration in creating mermaid and fairy beads.
