View Full Interactive Version Of This Page : Free Tool Set Contest! Calling Lampworkers & Wire-Wrappers! Post pictures to win!

InspirationToolworks

Happy new year everyone!

Kicking off the new year, I'm going to be introducing a new set of tools that people who do both lampworking and wire wrapping will love! I want to make sure that I get these tools in the hands of someone who does both, so I'm giving a set of tools away!

To be entered in the contest, just post pictures of projects where you have done the lampwork and wire wrapping. If you worked closely with a partner where one of you did the lampwork and one of you did the wire wrapping, that's okay too.

The deadline is Sunday January 8th at 9:00 EST. I will then pick a winner randomly from those who have posted pictures. I will send a fabulous set of tools worth over $70 to the winner anywhere in the world!

So put those pictures up!

Thanks!

-Jeff

How about this one? There was a lot of wire wrapping in this - used sterling wire and sterling Indian headpins with danglies. Thanks for giving us the opportunity to win some of your great tools!

Jeff, What a wonderful thing to do!!!! I wish I knew how to wire wrap, but unfortunatly the beads I make don't lend themself well to jewlery. I do hope to be able to afford a couple of your tools this year, I can see they would be very helpful.

Good luck to all who enter!

This is not an entry, just hoping to give you a giggle!

OMG, I really need to watch who’s looking over my shoulder when I’m reading LE! When I returned home from work I found this alienphant had given her best shot a wire wrapping! I’m wondering who helper her, none of the other aliens would crack under interrogation, but I know she had help. There’s no way she could reach her own tail.

Hello,
The beads on the mandrel are my own. My very first "round" hollow bead!!! (the others were more droopy and some looked like weird glass adventures LOL) The wire work is my own but done using beads I have bought from two other wonderful artists on LE; Kimberly Affleck and Barrie Edwards. I hope this is alright and counts as a entry. My one and only necklace made with my own beads and wirework was a Christmas present for my mother and the pictures didn't turn out very well.

I'm responsible for the bead and the crappy photo. A friend that I often do shows with did the wire wrapping. She keeps telling me she'll teach me...if I can just get the tools.;) :p

I'm not the best at wirewrapping, but I did make the lampwork for this watch, wirewrapped the danglies, made it all into a handmade bracelet, and shipped it off to it's new home in FLORIDA.... with Ms. Danelady, My "AuntiLynnie" ...

My friend Christine Houde and I worked together on this piece. I did the pendant and she did the chain. She cut all the jump rings and assembled the chain. She does such beautiful work. I am sticking to the lampwork vessels and the simple pendant assembly. We submitted this for a show and we were rejected......boo hoo. I hope we can try for the tools!!!!

Wow! Cool contest Jeff, it's generous of you to do something like this.

Ok, this is the first bracelet I made back in June with my very first lampwork beads. I didn't care if they were wonky or not, I was proud of them. The other item is a cell phone bangle I made for one of my very good friends here- (I made the silver headpins too).
As you can see, my wire wrapping skills are pretty basic. ;) Jeeee, I think what I need to get better and more creative with wrapping my beads is a cool set of tools!!!! .......... and a LOT more practice 8-[

Let's see if I can do this...I've been trying for THREE DAYS to re-size photos for this contest...I hate my "new improved" scanner software...it doesn't let you size by anything other than photo-print size...grrr...
Proof I wire wrap using other people's beads:
Necklace designed with an Alison Turner Focal Bead
13045
And some beads I made--I only made everything pathetic in this photo
Sherryl Booger made the awesome Clown head...wish I could claim it, but, I can only claim the pathetic newbie spacers!! :D every time I tried to crop the photo, it wouldn't re-upload...grrr
13042
After all this work, I really hope I win!!!
(really peeved 'cause I can't get my "100's of wrapped pins" bracelet sized right for THIS forum--at 400x400 pixels the file is still too big, and my custom belly rings show up as "x" even though they show up in the file uploader....argh!...it's making my jewelry look pathetic, when really, my wire-work is decent--just my lampwork is "newbie" & my computer skills, uh, "need new software"!!!)

YAY~~GELLY took pity on me & sized my photos!
Here's my bracelet with many-wrappings:

AND...my more recent pathetic newbie beads...all these are mine ;):

The Winner: Cosmo!

You win a complete set of Multi-Mandrel Inserts with two Multi-Mandrel Handles:

http://inspirationtoolworks.com/ebay/mm-set-400.jpg

Congratulations!

All those crazy shapes at the top get inserted into the handles allowing you to make grooved cabochons at the torch. You can then use the groove
to attach a wire wrapping. I will have them for sale on my website soon.

The bottom left is a V pendant insert, and the lower right a button insert.

Please PM or e-mail me your shipping address.

Thanks so much everyone for playing! Tons of beautiful stuff!

How are these different from the grooved cab mandrels? I have the heart and the teardrop. They look flatter, is that the case?

Yes.

These are the new grooved cab mandrels... They work just about the same, but they are WAY easier for me to have manufactured, and I can have them made in any shape I want. The flatness gives a slightly narrower groove, and the flatness means there's a little more elbow room before an "oops" - locking the cab to the insert.

You dip these in bead release and build up your glass inside on the torch? You use these with a kiln for fusing?

You dip them in bead release, build up a mass of glass inside the frame, and then squeeze with BBQ mashers to flatten and spread the glass out over the frame. This leaves a groove after you take them out of the kiln and remove the inserts.

To see some example pictures, check out:

http://inspirationtoolworks.com/lampworking/0013/

I will have the page update in the next few days with this new style.

Currently, you can't use them for fusing.... but maybe someday!
