Here are some pictures of the progress of my studio. We're waiting for the drywall guys to finish up, then we can start painting and installing cabinets.

Thanks Carrie.
Did you notice how incredibly HIGH the ceiling is? I only asked for 8' and they made 10.5! The builder wanted it to fit in better with the house, and it would have looked teeny tiny with only 8' ceilings.
The builder makes the neighborhood covenants as to how things should look... we had to go with it.

Wilma! Hi there.
I'll post pictures along the way, so check this thread when it pops up from time to time.
I'm planning on getting a Wagner Power Roller to do the painting. Maybe I can start that this weekend. Anyone know how long it takes drywall mud to cure?
I just hope I'll have enough $$ left to buy a stock of glass and supplies when we're done! I have some, but I have my eye on a lot of things!

Thanks Deb,
I just went out to check the progress and the guys said they should be done by Monday. They're going to put on several coats of drywall compound, then spray the ceiling and do the knockdown texture, and finally come back to sand it all down.
No painting this weekend, but they said that as soon as they're done sanding on Monday it will be good to go! Woo hoo! I guess I'll be shopping for paint this weekend.

I want some here sooo bad. It's 67 in NC, in the winter.. I would like it to be a littel colder.
LOVE all your space!!!!! I can't get over it. There's a place for everything you can think of....... Can't wait to see the updated pics!

Well, we worked yesterday and today with a paint sprayer and got the entire studio primed. \\:D/ The ceiling was the hardest part, because it was so high. I started out with a scaffold and a roller, but soon found that it was going to be way too hard. So my hubby borrowed a sprayer from a workmate and was that ever slick!
Now that the place is primed and the ceiling is done, I can use the scaffolding and paint the walls with a roller. I chose a sage green because it is a very calm, restful color. I need a soothing space to do my best work.
We're toying with the idea of putting up a white beadboard on the lower part of the wall. I think it would look very nice, but I haven't decided if I want to add it to the list of things needed to finish the studio.
Sorry I don't have any pictures of the progress... it looks mostly the same except it's all painted white right now. I'll post pictures when there are some major changes to look at.

Another update... Just finished my second coat of the sage green paint. I'm all done painting except for the inside of the closet, but that will be white.
My hubby put up five large light fixtures this weekend. Now I have great light, and it makes the whole place look cheery.
After speaking with a very knowledgeable person at Continental Fan Manufacturing in Buffalo, NY... I finally decided on what ventilation fan to go with. Wanda at CFM helped me out with the calculations needed for the amount of ducting, etc. that I need to use. It turns out that the fan she recommended was about $50 cheaper than the one I was considering. AND... it will be easier to install because we can attach our ductwork/fan assembly to the existing attic vent. No holes to cut in the wall. I have a friend who is in the HVAC business and might be able to order this fan for me. If he can, we might save even more. We'll see...
For now, our next project will be buying and installing the cabinets. countertop and sink.

Wow, it's been almost 3 and a half months since we moved into our new house! The studio is still in progress... but it's closer to being done. Slow but sure!
We have cabinets! We have a water heater... and a working bathroom! Walls are all painted. The vent fan is here, but not installed yet. The floor has been acid etched in preparation for an epoxy paint. DH didn't think the stain idea would work, so we opted for the paint. We'll get that done this weekend.
Just ventilation after that and I'll be able to get back to the torch.
We still have to wait on the counter top. I finally decided on what to use, and it takes about three weeks to get... so even though we have the base cabinet and the plumbing ready, the sink has to wait. But I don't need those things to get the torch going!
I'll be posting pictures soon.

Here's the latest....
Yesterday we applied the bonding primer to the cement floor. Today we painted with an epoxy paint in a khaki tan color. I'm loving it! We may have to do another coat after 24 hours. We'll check it tomorrow to see if it needs it or not.
My DH has been a little gunshy about installing the ventilation fan... it's been here for weeks. I've contacted our friend who's in the HVAC business and he says he can talk him through it.
We're SO close now I can almost smell the propane! ;)
Of course there is finishing work to do. No door on the bathroom or closet, no baseboards or window trim, no counter top or kitchen sink, etc. Details! I can still torch without those things... I'll be happy when the ventilation is done.
I promise to take some pictures tomorrow after the floor paint is dry.

As promised, here are some more shots of the studio.

Never mind all the stuff on top of the cabinets... had to clear the floor for painting. The water heater will be mostly hidden once the counter is installed. The counter will run along both walls in an "L" shape. There will be one more narrow cabinet under the wall cabinet on the right side... as you can see, it is still in the box.

Here is a slight pan to the right so you can see into the powder room and closet. I wanted to get you a shot of the cute bathroom vanity, but it hasn't been 24 hours since we painted the floor and we're not supposed to walk on it yet. These shots were taken from right outside the door.
Like I said, there's a lot of finishing work to do. We might have to put another coat of epoxy on this afternoon.
I'm so excited! Thanks for sharing this with me.

The studio has been on put on hold because life events took top billing for a few weeks. My grandmother passed away, so I had to take a trip out of state to go to the funeral. DH had minor surgery right before I left... everything went well. While I was gone DH was rear-ended by a Land Rover going over 55mph... he was stopped at a red light at the time. He "had" a Dodge Ram 1/2 ton 5 passenger truck... the thing is toast. He's quite sore, but seems fine. It's a good thing he was driving the truck.
Nothing has changed in the studio except we received the countertops. We can finish up that whole area as soon as they're installed.
I'd like to make up a name for the building and have a little sign done. Any suggestions?
Just Nancy

Wow. Sorry about grandma, but glad your DH wasn't hurt any worse.
My studio is known by the construction crew as Nancy's bead-o-rama. The buiding is sort of know by our family as Paradise (long story).
I'll put my thinking cap on, but I'm obviously not good with names.
