How do you use this tool?

I was browsing the olympic color site and ran across this tool. It's listed under lampworking tools, but I'm not sure what it does.

It's traditionally referred to as a Sofietta. Say you have an open vessel and are puntied up to the bottom, you can heat the body of the piece and stick the cone into the opening, and give a little puff to shape the piece when the blowtube is already removed. More often used by furnace workers but useful for lampworkers too.
It's a great tool, though pretty specialized.

I'm trying to figure out how useful a straight one is though. Usually they're curved so the blower can use them solo.

eta: I take that back, I could see it being useful for final clean up work on a small bottle or something :D
