Who makes a nice bright Christmas Red color in COE 104. I have tried the purple red, CIM sangre etc and nothing is what I want.....

CIM Bordello over Peace is good. Excellent as a cased stringer.

Or Vetro Candy Apple Red.

It's sooooo much easier to work than effetre striking red! (yeah, it's technically still a striking color, but soooo much less fussy! and lauscha is sooo freakin' EASY on the hothead!! it!)

If you want a transparent you can work long and hot, we have a kiln-striking red here at TAG (Black Cherry) that you bring back to clear before you strike it in the kiln. When you reheat it like that you reset the strike, and get a fairly clear result. Ask your distributor if they have a 'light' version if you want to work it a long time, but it will take a little longer to kiln strike if you use the lighter versions. Darker versions are better for folks who want to work small and fast, and not wait long for color in the kiln. But the dark ones can go very dark, so they bear watching.

i get a nice red by melting the ruby red cullet from gabbert. it costs about $1/pound plus shipping. it comes in chunks and broken pieces of glass, so you have to melt it and pull your own cane. here is a starfish i made with it.

I am also interested in getting a red that would look nice when etched to a great red satin finish. Any suggestions other than those already listed?
Thanks!

Love that star fish!
Lauscha has an opaque red that etches well. The Effetre Reds etch well too. I have not tried CiM reds yet.
