View Full Interactive Version Of This Page : need help asap with a hothead
I had to pack up my proper studio and now onlly have my old hothead.
I just tried to light it and it no longer has the whooooosh noise it makes with the hard fast contrentated flame. All it has is a long quiet fluffy flame very very similar to the flame you have when you just light the propane on a dual fuel torch.
I am so upset because I was going to torch for the first time in months and the hothead is cactus.
Does anyone know what is wrong with it? Please don't tell me I have to buy a new one.....
thanks Leanne

I'm guessing it sounds like you're out of fuel but don't know. What type of fuel do you have with it? The hh is designed to run off tank pressure. Unless you're out of fuel, I can't imagine what's going on.

I thought I was out of fuel too so I hooked it up to another brand new full propane tank and the same thing happened????

Is it clogged?
And...are you trying to run it with your tank regulators still on the tank? (if you are, take them off, or at least open them up to "full pressure"! hothead needs "tank pressure", not a low-pressure!)
If you're on a bulk tank with a hose, try draining them, or having someone blow them clear with a compressor--they may be full of "gunk" from the propane tank.
(I take my torch outside every so often & turn it up to FULL BLAST & just burn whatever may be getting stuck inside the torch "off"--seems to keep it pretty well cleaned out)

I got great help from the manufacturer when I was using my hothead. It's been several years since I tried this e-mail, but try: sarah@hotheadsource.com
There is also good information on their website. Good luck!
no I don't have my regs on...I am using a different propane bottle to what I run my midrange on......
I tried emailing that exact email and didn't get a response....
I am now thinking I might have to pull it apart???? Is it true that if I do that I will have to replace the orifice or something????
Can anyone give me instructions on how to do it???
thanks so far for your replies....
