Hi all! I've been making bead caps for my lampwork beads over the past couple of weeks, using sterling silver wire and gemstones. I've had several requests for tutorials for the design. Before I commit to doing it, I want to be sure that there's enough interest. The tut cost would be $7 bucks.

Here's a pic of one of the bead caps. . .

Thank you all so much for your responses! Guess this decides it. . .I'll start working on it and hopefully I can have it ready to roll in a few days.

Sly, Maybe one day I'll do one for the roses. Every single time I make them, the process is different. Which makes me wonder which ones you might be interested in. . .Are you speaking of the murrini ones that I'm doing now or the ones that I was doing before?

DUDE!! I want that tutorial! Those are just **lovely**. I want that like I have never wanted anything before. Seriously. I would pay more, too. :D Is that enough begging for you?

I am totally a sucker for this brand of encouragement, Kandice. lol

Okay you guys!!! I'm actually working on this tut now and last night I made a materials list. For those of you that want to go ahead and procure supplies, here's what you need. . .

Materials:
6 Inches of 20g sterling silver wire (dead soft)
7 Feet of 26g sterling silver wire (dead soft)
Qty 20, 2mm sterling silver seamless round beads
Qty 10, 3mm sterling silver seamless round beads
Qty 10, 3mm gemstone beads
Optional: Liver of sulfur for oxidizing your piece. Polishing cloths.

Tools:
Chain nose pliers
Round nose pliers
Flush wire nippers
Coarse finger nail file for deburring the ends of your 20g. wire.

If you don't want to use expensive materials for this project, you can use plated copper wire. It's soft and is easy to work with. Small seed beads can also be used in place of the gemstone beads.

Hopefully this will be enough to get you guys started! I also want to say a big thanks for the compliments on the rose beads. I'm not sure about doing a tut for those just yet. It seems that every time I make them, they made differently. If I can nail down and exact process, I'll definitely think about doing a tutorial for them. (Not the murrini, because I just started making this version and couldn't begin to explain how I'm doing it. I think I lose a few more brain cells each time I make a piece of murrini cane.)

I'll be back soon. . . :-) Thanks for all of the positive feedback!

I personally found this tut fun and easy-to-follow.

'Cept now I have a gorgemous bead cap and no bead for it. Talk about all dressed up and nowhere to go! Making a 27mm bead to me is GINORMOUS! Guess I'll have to try it.

Thank you Rose Leslie!

Rachelle, Sorry about the size. . .My beads tend to be pretty huge so the design was created to accommodate them. I know not everyone has a need for a big honkin bead cap. I've had a few requests from folks who would like to know how to make a smaller bead cap for 14 - 16mm beads. I'm thinking about doing another tut sometime over the holidays. If I do, I'll also include a design that is good for lentils. Also, Rachelle, I'm glad that you found it easy to follow. This tut was much harder for me to write than the glass tutorials. I am going to work on making the next one much better and even easier to follow.

Actually, no need to apologize...now that I have done one, I can use the basic concept to create different sizes. even lentils, I'm more into lentils than big ol' rounds. Thank you for offering the tut. It really is pretty.
