Is it ok that I have my fashback arrestors between my regulator and hose? MIL was in my studio today and scolded me for not having them on the torch end of the hose. I thought I was being safe. Plus my torch has the clamp on type of connection.
Thanks!

Ahem..... There are two versions of flashback arrestors one style goes at torch other style goes at regulator. The two different styles are determined by how the threaded connectors are configured .. And yes flashback arrestors are "directional".
IF you have clamp on fitting at torch and wish to use flashback arrestor at torch end you can get barbed fitting adapters (welding hose ends) at welding supply to make this work...
AND....
IF flash back arrestor is at torch you protect not only your regulators but your hose too... Who wants a exploding hose to spray fuel and hot rubber all over studio.... IF you have flash back arrestor at regulator you DO NOT protect hose and all you are protecting is regulator.

I agree with Dale but at the last sentence he said you protect the regulator which isn't false but I'd say you protect the tank in the end. I think its worth loosing the hoses more then having the tank explode in the end but its always better in my mind to have the arrestors at the torch which prevents anything. You can also have both models which cover you both ways and means no explosion at all.
There are always different circumstances for anything.
just my 2 cents

Ok... I called my welding supplier and they're going to bring arrestors for the torch end the next time they deliver O2. Thanks for your help!

If you have ever had a flame travel down your hose, as I did once, you would have it at the torch end. Thankfully I was wearing my leather apron and it did no damage to me. So I put mine on the torch end after that incident.

Hey Maureen,
If you don't mind me asking, was this with a surface or pre-mix torch ?
