I had this great idea to do a snowflake. I was hoping there was a tutorial out there for one. Does anyone know how to do a simple snowflake or any ideas?????
Thanks,
Maggie

Here's a snowflake bead that I make. I know many others make these as well. You can also add more dots to the top sides of the stringer, to make it look more detailed.

I use a lentil as the base. You then lay down stringer lines to form the snowflake shape, and add dots on the top of the those lines to embellish.

There's also more complex snowflakes that are made by stacking dots all around a disc bead, and dragging the dots (from the sides) downward toward the mandrel. Those are very cool looking.

Hope that helps you Maggie!

The only snowflakes I've done was taking silver foil and punching snowflake shapes out of it with a paper punch then applying them to round beads.

I've also seen people make the star beads with transparent blues, clear and white and those are lovely.

Here are my silver flakes:

Wow, what beautiful examples!!! I had a thought, Maggie, if an "applied" design isn't quite what you're looking for, and are thinking more of a "sculpted" Snowflake is what you want...

Inspiration Toolworks, although no longer in full operation, offers most of their tools now through Zoozii's:

I checked, but I don't believe Zoozii's yet carries the Hex Mandrel that Jeff made popular, but you might want to write Amy at Zoozii's and see if she's going to have these in the future.

For the time being, though, I'm linking Jeff's old page for the Hex Mandrel which shows how neat it worked (I know it shows "In Stock" - maybe write Jeff and see if he has one still left to sell?); it may give you some inspiration as well:
