I know this topic was mentioned in the Cleaning Glass Rods thread but I thought my question might get lost in there so I started a new topic...

Do those of you who clean your glass rods in the dishwasher keep them rubber banded or let them sit loose in a pile?

I would like to try this but I am a bit nervous about it...

Any pointers or tips would be appreciated :)

I've done it a couple of times - mostly with transparents and I spread them out so they're in a single layer. If you bundled them up you'd miss the ones on the inside of the bundle!

I clean my rods in the dishwasher. I take the rubber bands and and the labels off. Next lay them flat, in a single row, on the upper and lower racks. Put in the dishwasher detergent and turn it on. I do not run them through the drying cycle. When they are done, I dry them and put the rubber bands on and relabel the rods.

For those of you who may not have a dishwasher, just soak or wash them in the sink with a little dishwasher detergent (not regular dishwashing detergent - needs to be dishwasher kind). I do this if I only have a small batch or if I have not used a particular color and it feels dirty. Use rubber gloves!!!

I have used this method of cleaning on almost all of the Vetrofond and Moretti/Effetre colors with no problems.
