Blown vessel Leaf handles

I have made a large blown vessel. I would like to put a leaf handle on both sides. I find that if I make the vessel first that the leafs won't or has a hard time sticking on. Should I make the leafs first and put the in the kiln and then put them on or what. At least I have something of one on the side. The other one looks like it will shock off. Help please.

I make multiple section pieces all the time. what you need to do is make up the leaves, attach a section of clear rod as a handle. place in kiln leaving handle hanging outside so it does not get hot. make up vessel. pull out leaves one at a time, warm up connecting point on both pieces, and stick together. fire cut handle off. repeat.
