gaaaaaah i dunnnko why i sat on the torch just to strike colors last night.. i could do the cranberry pink (rubino oro, golden pink,) and also a rose.. i cant remember which one it was soemthing like 5** hahaha, but tongue pink, silver pink, powder pink... NOTHING!!! they are ugly! lol
what am i doing wrong? it drives me crazy..
Polita, it works best for me if I use a slightly oxydizing flame, work far out in the flame and let the bead cool down and just flash it in and out a while.
You have to use a much cooler flame to melt it, and keep it cool while working it. Then, flame strike it and put it directly into the kiln. That's how I get the best results anyways...

Yes you will! What type of torch are you using? If you are on a HH you should make pink beads way at the tip of your flame, the glass should have a slight orange glow to it, not yellow or white. If you overheat this glass you will burn out all the color before even getting the chance to strike it. Rubino oro is very sensitive to heat, and once the color is gone, it won't come back.
If you are on a minor or other oxygen-fuel torch, just lower your propane a bit, and add more oxygen like Chad and Kevan said.
The key is to work it as cool as possible. THen let the bead cool just a bit and wave it throug the flame, this way the color should pop.

I have also noticed that I get better pinks when I cover the Rubino in clear before I try to strike it...
