View Full Interactive Version Of This Page : What can I do with Effetre carnelian??
I have a 1/4lb of this color and so far I can make a small spacer and get it to strike a translucent butterscotch pudding color. LOL, that's the best way to describe it! I tried silver on it and it just looked like specks of dirt, bleh..
Can you show me some pictures of what it's supposed to look like? Tips on flame chemistry too, please?? I strike it at the tip of a low and higher oxy flame. It goes from pale translucent ivory/yellow to the butterscotch.
Since it's an opalino, I'm guessing that there aren't too many other things it can be compatable with, right?

Work it cool, it doesn't particularly "like" graphite tools. It likes some of Val's frits, too.
Here's a bead I made last November, long tube with Val's Georgia Peach frit scattered and twisted on top. I just made a flutter yesterday, with the same frit melted in, and it looks terrific. I'll post it later today.
Karen,
That is SO beautiful! Color, design, everything! Your color is a quite a bit darker than mine, so maybe I do need to work it even cooler. :)
Yeah, you don't want to cook those opalino colors too hot.
This is not a color I particularly like, but that is a very pretty bead.

When i can get the moon and stars alined just right it is a beautiful pink grapefruit color that is translucent. I work it waaay out in the flame.
it's BEAUTIFUL with silver - gets variations w/ yellow and pink. definitely one of my favorite colors. also looks great w/ rubino on it.
I like it as the main color on "dot" flowers, over white or ivory. Comes out to a really pretty rosey pink. Oh, and try it over ivory with a "whiteheart" technique with light ivory dots and scrolls - very nice!

I find that if I don't have enough oxy it tends to scum easily. I work it in a neutral flame, let it cool alittle, bring it back up to a glow and it strikes to a "pink grapefruit" color at that point for me. Great color description Vikkilynn!
I like to use it as a base color coated w/ pixidust and encased in pale topaz. Sounds weird but it looks great! It's the bead on the pinkish necklace.

I don't have an example to show you right now, but I love to use it to make off-mandrel leaves, especially with some reduction frit.

The one and only time I tried it I got what hubby has now named 'raw chicken pink' Not what I was expecting! Haven't touch the rod yet again :) (ignore my attempt at flowers hehe)
