View Full Interactive Version Of This Page : taking a picture of mirrors
One of my glass hobbies is making stained glass mosaic mirrors. Somtimes I place part of the mosaic right on the mirror, so I want THAT to appear in the picture too.......
Does anyone know how to take a picture of a mirror without having your reflection in it? I've tried a side angle and then I get all the crap down the hall or what ever.......There's gotta be a trick to this that is completely escaping me........

Here is something that works for really shiney beads...should work for mirrors too. Put it in the freezer for a while. Pull it out and take a picture immediatly when it fogs :D
OMG!! What an awesome idea! Can't wait to try it. Thank you so much!
Here's something that a friend of mine told me a long time ago...
Take it into your bathroom. If you have a solid white shower curtain, angle it so the reflection is picking up the shower curtain. If it's not white, hang a white sheet or something similar over the curtain rod. Then when you take a picture at an angle, it's reflecting a nice solid white back at you.

Hang an old clean white sheet between you and the work. Cut a slit just big enough for the lens and shoot through it. The most they should see is a dark spot where your lens was. This is a good technique if you tend to photograph shiny things when you aren't looking your best. It also keeps my wife from asking me how I got the orangutan with the baseball cap into the shot.

Great, you guys! Thanks so much for the tips - I'll be trying them for sure. Think I'll try the freezer one first. And since it's a mosaic, I'll post the pic on one of the other threads..........oh, the stained glass one.........not tonight though........
