I LOVE Aether Clear and hope that Double Helix will decide to put it in its regular production line. In order to convince Jed and Julie, I would like to see what everyone thinks about the Aether Clear Seconds!

". . . will you still love Aether if she has up to 4 bubbles per rod and retails at $40/lb?"

Please help me convince them!!!!

I really like the "seconds" that I just ordered so far :) The few bubbles don't bother me and I like the cheaper price!

This clear is really wonderful. I love the price, and I have not really seen many bubbles at all. Please, Jed and Julie, put this clear into production!
Thanks,

So far I'm in love! It almost seemed to glow coming out of the box because it was so clear. The cut end didn't bubble at all when introduced into the flame and it applied so smoothly. Can't wait to play with it some more.

I used it tonight and love it. No pictures yet though. So I sure do hope they keep it in their line.

But you know what I really love? The new Terra! OMG! it's fabulous! I just tried it tonight, got my glass in the mail today.

I have a NEW LOVE! LOL!

Oh Shari, show TE265 beadies please! Guess I should have made this a thread for both!

I didn't get any so I wanna live vicariously through your gorgeous beads!

No pix yet, but OMG I'm in love with Aether! =D>=D> I got a pound of the "seconds" and they are much better than "firsts" of any other clear I've used. The few tiny bubbles are no big deal, and are more than offset by the way the glass melts like butter and flows wonderfully for encasing. I'll try and have pix up by tonight.
[-o<[-o<[-o< Please Jed and Julie, keep the Aether in your regular line!!

It's sold out at Double Helix. I went back this morning to try and buy some more of the Aether and it's all gone.

I was lucky to get a pound of the Aether as well and was REALLY happy with it!! It melted smoothly and was easy to use . . . I didn't have to alter my encasing method with it. I typically use Effetre clear in the larger diameters and encase my beads using a "big blob" method (technical term) . . . . the Aether melted easily and I was able to get a nice big gather and WHOOSH it around my bead. It melted like Effetre, but it was quite obvious the quality was better than Effetre . . . very few bubbles, no scumming, and none of the annoying scratches all the way up the rod that ruin your encasing gather.

I would love to see DH add this to their regular line!! Also, if I can beg a little . . . if Jed and Julie see this thread . . . . could you manufacture different diameter rods?? I use thinner clear rods for certain style beads, and the big diameter for full encasing.

I have a bead that I encased with the Aether, but it's not cleaned out yet . . . I'll post a picture once I clean it :)

Here is one I did yesterday. One of the things I really like about the Aether is that it gets soft enough to move into the depressions created by poking centers in the flowers. Usually I end up with much bigger bubbles and the stamen in the center is covered up if I just wrap around to encase.

I totally agree, Ginny!!! I'd love to see choices in rod size.

And they MUST MAKE MORE AETHER!!! I've just burned through 2 rods this afternoon encasing dicro beads, and I could be convinced to trade my first born child for more of this clear!!

Wow Ginny, that is lovely. I haven't gotten to melt it yet, but I know I am going to love it! The Te265 seems to be kind of "watered down" to me. Shari - your bead is lovely though.

Wow, that clear looks so pretty and so are the beads!
I made a simple round bead on Thursday with the TE-265 and it looked good before going into the kiln. I made a round with it and struck it,great colors, put some clear dots on top, melted them in, great colors and when it came out of the kiln there was nothing left but transparent purple and a tiny bit of opaque blue. My kiln isn't too hot or anything, all of the silver glass including Terra etc. gets out with pretty colors the way it went in but this, i don't know........

I posted a separate post, but it fell off pretty quick. Has anyone had incompatibility issues with Aether? I used it with VanGogh, just a simple encased tube and the whole thing came out completely shattered out of the kiln.

Just wondering if anyone else has had issues or if it was just a noob fluke. :)

I don't know Manda. I've been using a lot of it on some nice large 1.5" lentils with lots of silver glass and mesh and they've all come out so beautiful and no cracks. I'm on the list of those begging for more.

I will try it again when I get back on the torch....it was just odd. I have had no other issues and adore it, so hopefully just a mistake on my part.

that's odd--I will try that combo and see. So far no cracks at all with the Aether I have....

Strange! Sure your boro and soft clear are well separated? If you have any, that is.

I do have boro, but no, this is definitely Aether, I mark each rod with a Sharpie before I put it in my bins and have a separate tub for Boro. It melted way too easily too. ;)

I just did a plain encased one with VanGogh again and we will see when it comes out of the kiln. It was just weird at how shattered it was, almost like it blew up, lol.

It was probably just me, LOL!

I haven't had any incompatibility issues with Aether on silver glass but haven't used it on Van Gogh. Keep us posted on the latest bead, Manda!

Manda, I was making some test beads and encased Van Gogh with Aether without problems. It wasn't a large bead, just a Zoozii med tab. I haven't had anything crack yet with the new Aether. Still working out which silver glasses turn green when encased and worked hot or long, but that isn't so much a problem as a design opportunity.

Hope your next beads comes out fine.

Well my beads came out of the kiln and my Van Gogh with Aether encasing bead is just fine, so it must have been a fluke. :)

I managed to get a few test rods of it last year and got word back to them with pictures that I adored it. You can reduce it a little and make your silver glass do different things if you want but if you don't, it can stay as clear as you would want. I tested it with several things to check for cracking and found no compatibility issues either. I would love more it.
