Liver of Sulpher vs stained glass copper patina

Maybe this has been brought up before.... sorry if I am being redundant.

But I have used stained glass patina available at all stained glass suppliers. I have used it on copper wire and on hammered copper washers very successfully. A lot easier than doing the liver of sulpher thing..

I apply a sealer to the pieces when done. Anyone else do this?

I use either Jax Pewter Black or LOS on my electroforming. Depends on what final look I'm after.

One of the tips on Beading Daily was that you could oxidize both with boiled eggs and
get the same results as Liver of sulfer. Place pieces in baggie with several boiled eggs, cut I believe. Do not let the pieces touch or touch eggs. Carefully flip over occaisonally to get good oxidize coverage.

boiled egss have never worked for me so I got the LOS and some silver black. I have enough to last the rest of my life, lol.

I always wondered about that copper patina, I figured it would work but I've never tried it.

and where does one get this copper patina (as I am working a lot with copper right now) and also what are you sealing it with?

I have copper patina. It works well if you are need to solder something copper- covers the silver coloured solder pretty well. It isn't a shiny bright copper though.

You can buy it at stained glass shops. Can't think of the name of it...its out in my studio.

When Carol was doing repousse I would patina the pieces with JAX black, buff them down and then wait a day and use a spray bomb of clear lacquer.
