View Full Interactive Version Of This Page : Twisties tip Thank-You !!!
I don't remember who posted this tip for twisties but I just wanted to say Thanks a bunch ! It worked so well for me ! It was one of those DAH moments we all have ! lol ! I use to avoid making twisties as it just didn't work well for me until yesterday. The tip being : Making a complicated looking twistie easily. Tape several rods together at the end you hold on to( I used a rubber band), introducing the other end into flame very carefully and slowly, when rod ends start to melt, pinch colors together with pliers and when you get size of melted gather you want, twist and pull. The picture here shows what I did yesterday in oh, about an hours time on and off. A few are bent or not uniform but most of them turned out perfect (IMHO) ! lol ! What do you think ???

I think they look fine for a first try. my first try didn't look as good as some of them. Glad you found a method that works for you.

How excellent is that?! You must be so stoked that you made them and with the anticipation of using them! Good on ya! =D>

Great job! I'll have to try that. I can make twisties ok but they only end up being about 6 inches long LOL!
I love twisties but have never made any. Maybe I will give it a try.

Nice twisties! Much better than my sad little attempts - will try the tape next time!
Thanks for the compliments you guys. Give it a try. It feels a little awkward at first but you get used to it pretty quickly. Did some more today and used them in some beads. Fun stuff ! lol !

Hello. My name is Joanna and I have come to the realization that I SUCK at twisties. You can further help my plight by donating large amounts of twisties in several different colors to me!
BWAHAHAHAHA!
Seriously, though, I suck!

Oh, you make me feel so good! I only joined this website a couple weeks ago and have not made many posts. I am in awe of the great talent exhibited here and only posted tips because it was a request for beginner information. I have always found it much easier to make twisties this way than doing the decorated paddle version. (PLus you can make lots!)
The reason I became good at twisties: I don't like leaving the kiln on when I am not home. If I don't have time to make beads and anneal before I have to pick up the kids somewhere, I sit and make twisties.
You made fantastic looking ones! How many rods did you use at once? With my Lynx I can use a bundle with up to about 7. Filagrana rods make wonderful twisties by this method. Try using gold avertine filagrana for one or two of the rods - it looks awesome.
Thanks for posting your success.

Joanna - I sucked at it too doing it other ways but for some reason, this way just clicked ! give it a try !
Steve - Great tutorial ! I'll have to give that one a try too ! I think the most rods I rubber banded together was 5. Could of done more but was just trying it out.
Kathy - Yes, there are some WONDERFUL artists here for sure ! so many wonderful tips and suggestions too ! One can learn soooo much as I have. I had been meaning to try this tip for some time and finally "remembered" it the other day ! lol ! Glad I did. for the twisties in the picture I only used up to 5 rods I think. The ones with 5 rods were the EDP, copper green, intense black and clear ones. Used 2 clear rods in that one.
Thanks again you all !
