Anal lentil question

Often my holes are unbalanced, more glass on one side or the other. Do you:

put the blob down and let the mandrel go where it wants?
press it down slightly to try to center it before pressing?

What's the trick to equal glass on either half?

I am very anal about my lentils. I hate butt cheeks and I hate uneven holes. I lay down the footprint and set it in the press to see if I am a hair off the edges. Then I add what I think is the right amount of glass. I let it cool a bit and press it gently in the base. Flip and press the other side so I have a sort of pressed bead. Then if I need more glass I add it, if not I reheat and do the press thing. When I do the sit and flip thing I pretty much ensure the glass gets pushed out evenly on each side. If I see a indented hole then I rewind the glass into a football and do it again. If it is good I only heat enough to repress, not enough to loose the lentil shape entirely.
