I finally have my NG lines run and I was wondering if anyone can give me a tip on connecting the propane hose to it; the shutoff is 3/4", and I might be able to find a reducer at the hardware store but I'm not having any luck online and am a bit worried about bringing home the wrong thing. To hopefully simplify things, would anyone here be able to tell me what I need? I had a part number and a link to it once upon a time... ahhhh the joys of being totally disorganized!

Thanks in advance,

I think it's called a 'B' fitting? Little brass doohickey.
Ah, OK, here is a link with a picture. I just told my welding supply guy that I need a B thing and he went and got it for me.

I am mildly bummed because it seems there is no single adapter I can use to go from the male 3/4" NPT on my shutoffs to the male B fitting. Sigh!

Yes there is a way! I went to a local, really small hardware store after spending 4 hours trying all the big places and every welding store in our area. Just take your hose, it is a part from a propane set-up. They new exactly what would work. It works like a charm! All I had to do was show them the hose and tell him what size black pipe I was hooking up to. That easy after 4 long hours and almost some tears along the way. gayle

Sorry Dale. I didn't mean to stir up any kaka.

Kalera, I'm sorry that didn't work out for you. I should have done this last night, but I went and looked at the line and he does have other fittings before the B, but that's the one that hooks up to the propane hose.:(

Any good plumbing store should have a 3/4 to what every size "bushing".... They come in all sizes... Or maybe you can get "B" fitting with larger pipe thread end...

If you cant find it locally... try McMaster-Carr

Part number:4429K423

If you need different size look at page 21

I know what I need, but McMaster-Carr doesn't have it. I need 3/4" NPT female and B male.

I know how to piece it together using a reducer, I was just hoping to have fewer joints so it would protrude less.

I think be best you can find will be 1/2 inch NPT to "B"...

Yeah, it looks that way. Darn it, I wish I'd checked on that before they installed the shutoffs, I could have just had them use 1/2" shutoffs.
