Hi everyone

When doing my research on frit, I've noticed that it mainly comes in 'bullseye form'. I received a pack of mixed pink frit as a bonus when I bought my start up kit and used it on moretti glass which seemed ok at the time but after I had annealled it, the beads cracked... so I'm guessing you can't use bullseye frit on moretti glass? or can you? If you can, how do you go about annealling it? There's so much of this pretty frit going around and unfortunately don't think I know how to use it properly...

Also, would any of you care to share your bullseye annealing schedules? so far I've painfully managed to anneal moretti glass (my first attempt turned my beads into buttons - heck, I didn't know how to use the darn kiln! just had to learn the hard way I guess...) and I don't want to have the same painful experience with my prettier bullseye beads...

help? somebody?

Thanks a heap!
Vanessa

Hi Vanessa, As you have already learned, Bullseye should not be used with Moretti/Effetre glass. Their COE's (coefficient of expansion) are different. Moretti has a coe of 104, while Bullseye has a coe of 90. As a general rule, glass with a coe that is 3 to 4 points different should not be used together. The exception is that sometimes leaded glass can be used with a different coe because the lead in the glass makes the glass more flexible. There is a lot more to compatibility than coe, but that is the place to start. Glass is a very technical medium and you will need to do some reading and research to understand it.

Venessa,

I posted a chart in this thread that I have been using for years for both bullseye and moretti.

Thanks a heap Eric! I've had a look at the chart but I don't quite understand it? I understand the soak temperatures but how long would you recommend that I leave them soaking for? (I'm so sorry if I sound really dumb)
