After 3+ years of working with soft glass, I think I want to try some boro....advice?
I have watched MANY, MANY classes of intro to Boro and even more on marbles and more elaborate techniques, so that part of me is ready. Doug Remschneider is one of the BEST!!!
Anyhoooo I have a couple small rods of clear (I used for pulling stuff) but no color or frit. Might any of you have some bits you might want to sell or trade for something?
I just want to try making a pendant or two to see if my set up can handle it and if I can work at a slower pace. Who knows it might be better for me!
Thanks for looking at my thead!

I just started working with boro. Believe me, it is a lot different to work with than moretti. I would try making a round bead first and then some shapes so that you can get a feel for working with the glass. I've been doing that for 4 months now and have just started making off mandrel pendants. There are some great free tutorials in http://www.lampworketc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=71430 for when you are ready. I would also recommend purchasing a Glass Alchemy or a Northstar sample pack. These are a great variety of regular boro and some of the reactive colors. Boro is not cheap - some rods are $10-15 a piece. Better to know if boro is for you before spending a lot of money.

I don't like to make beads with the boro.
I learned my very first boro from Brent, and he doesn't use "sticks". So I enjoy the off mandrel free flow of it. That way it's not as frustrating to me.

Tracey, exactly why I was looking for some odds and ends.....I have tons of 104 glass (some 96) and going to Murano with Mikey! Wanna bet I get more GLASS!! So I thought that if I tried a little bit and found it not to be a good thing for me I could avoid having to re-mortgage the house for more glass!!
Thanks to those who PM'd me with offers.....I am sure you will see questions in the near future!!
I'm not a big fan of on-mandrel boro. There are so many other possibilities!
