Need help posting picures

I admit it, I'm computer graphics challenged. I've tried posting a couple of pics of my work, but they are too big for the image loader. As for photo editing, I just have what came with my camera. I know how to crop and make things smaller, but I seem to either edit way too much, or not enough. What size do you edit your photos for uploading?

Someone posted the info for a free download at
www.pixresizer.com
a while back and that really is easy to use. Max size you can post is 640x640.
