I've been making twisties with turquiose and evil purple, when I apply the twistie to my bead and melt in, the purple turns to this matte/chalky appearance. What I'm I doing wrong?

That's devitrification, the big reason 254 is called Evil Purple. You can try encasing your 254 canes before incorporating them into your twistie. Or you could use a different purple, like one of the yummy Lauscha opaques.

The reason I'm using this particular type of combination is because I want that line of seperation when the colors are melted in. Maybe I can use New Violet (273) and get the same reaction. What do you all think?

The devitrification will go away if you heat the bead until very molten. Don't forget to heat around the mandrel too. Then take the bead out of the flame and keep it out of the flame.
