I've been work with a single fuel source torch and want to upgrade to a duel fuel source. I've been saving for this. Now my mother in law just got a new portable Oxygen Concentrator and she said I could have her old one that has just been serviced and has about 750 hours on it.
Can I use this for lampworking? Will it need to modified?
I'm planning to upgrade to entery level torch from Nortel.
Thank for any help.

medical concentrators are whay most of us use. You just need to make sure that it's at least 5lpm and as for the torch, I would highly recommend that you go with the GTT Cricket. It's built specifically to work with a 5lpm concentrator.
I second the cricket. I own both it and the minor and for the money and its efficient use of a 5 lpm oxycon, I would go with the cricket.

Ditto on the cricket.
750 hours! Wow, that will last you for a long time.

Just for the sake of accuracy, there is no such thing as a "dual fuel" torch.... ALL fire (including torches) is produced by a fuel and a oxidizer...
The term is "fuel/oxygen" torch.... Any body who insisted its a dual fuel torch is wrong...

I can't remember who, but someone did pick one up out of a nursing homes dumpster some years ago.
what kind of adaptations would need to be done to a medical one? I've been thinking I might rent one of those instead of the oxy... but I don't know if I need to change it in any way.

None.
You can't rent medical oxycons without a Drs. order. I have 2 they are marked not for medical use and I do boro on the cricket with both hooked up, Trey has a demo on his web site on how to boost the flow with oxycons.

ohhhhh.... Thank you!

Down here anything is possible! ;)
But having said that, if me using it to torch would render it useless for it's real purpose (ie. will it contaminate it in some way??) then I certainly wouldn't want that.
