sometimes when i make a bead with cim cirrus, i get a cloudy bead but yesterday they all turned out clear. what is the trick to getting them one way or the other? is it hit or miss or serendipity or something technical that i don't know? anybody have any wisdom on this????...kath

Cirrus can remain pretty clear, especially on smaller beads. I wind up striking it to get the cloudiness, but cirrus doesn't like to get too cool either - it can crack (and remember to anneal higher as well). Rose Quartz is similar as well.

thank you so much for shedding some light on this glass. i will try striking it. i have no idea how i got it cloudy the times i did but maybe i struck it without thinking about it. i will give it a try and see if i can come up with some cloudy beads...thanks again

I found this helpful, at the CIM website http://www.creationismessy.com/Product/Color/Cirrus.aspx

the cirrus unique will become very cloudy, almost white. The regular shouldn't unless you work it really hot.

I work mine for a long time to get an opalescent colour.

striking made it a tad less transparent but it is still not as opalescent as some that i have made. i will keep trying. it is a waste of glass to have them come out clear when i can do that with plain old clear. i feel as if i am working a long time and striking several times so i should be getting better results. sometimes i think glass likes to "toy" with me....kath

I'll have to take a look at mine again. Mostly it is cloudy for me. When I use silver glasses with it and have to turn up the gas then it turns clear. Not exactly the reaction I'm looking for. The silver glass looks nice, but I might as well used clear.

I have just bought some more of the cirrus unique which seems a lot more cloudy. I'll let you know!
