Not wanting to shanghai Nannette Marie's bullseye thread I thought I'd start another one.

Bullseye has such incredible transparents, I especially love the dark ones. But what's the best way to get that gorgeous color??? Just making a bead they're so dark it doesn't do it justice. I've tried layering it over white, that didn't really work either. I don't know if I'm just layering too thick or what. I sure hope the only way to get the gorgeous color isn't by blowing a vessel or I'm screwed!!! lOL My blown vessels need work. The last one I made grew into a small vase!!!

Debbie, try using the dark transparents over white as flower petals or over white in other designs. I LOVE Dark Rose Brown, yumm yumm! Just layering them over a base of white, in my opinion, doesn't really work. Maybe if you got the transparent layering really thin, it might.

Or try using them on a hollow bead. You get some beautiful transparents that way.

try layering them over a clear core, it works for me:)

Layering them over white or transparent works for me, but I get the encasing layer thin, not thick at all.

Hey, I don't care if you hijack me, I'm just glad people read my posts.

Gotta get that encasing thin, thin, thin, Some of the new odd colors are just do die for when they thinly encase white, if you do anything else they are just too dark.

Here's the odd Marine Sparkle; it looks like a really dark blue, nothing special in the rod, but put it over white, yum.

hollow beads?? roflol!!! now I've made some and they turned out ok, it's the cleaning them out that's such a pain!!! and I could see where they would be pretty blown or hollow!!!
I tried to encase white with some garnet (which is a beautiful color too) and I guess I got it tooooooo thick, so that's my problem, I'm encasing too much, just a light layer, I'll try that!!! And I'll try on a clear core!! The dark transparents are sooooooooo beautiful I want to really get the full effect!!
thanks
