Ok first of all I've looked thru as many back messages as I can and haven't found the answer to the question I've got but I'm pretty sure it's there :0(

I've got dark grey metallic strips on my dk turq beads, I decreased propane and it still happened. Is this when you can soak the beads in coke or the toilet bowl cleaner and it'll get rid of it or do I just need to go ahead and etch the beads????
thanks!!

You can soak them and most will come off.

lol I'm going for a lily pond look................ I'm afraid the grey would say cesspool !!! lol

when I bought the toilet bowl cleaner believe me it's cause I remembered someone saying they used it on their beads, I just couldn't remember exactly what it was for!!!! but it wasn't for cleaning!!!!!!! lol

I've gotten rid of the metallic spots on dk turquoise by dabbing the bead with a q-tip soaked in etching solution, it comes right off.

I have these q-tips that are for eyeshadow (I guess) and they're pointy on one end, they work great to put etchall on a small spot and not on the entire bead.

Sometimes too even if you increase your Oxy and reduce your propane, you will still get gray spots if your kiln (like mine) has a reducing environment...

I toss them in some Coke for a day or so and they usually clean right up! In fact, I've some in the kiln right now that I need to go do that to also.

Thank you Sue!! I really thought it was just me and I was losing my mind!! But I've had beads come out of the kiln a lot more metallic than they went in!!
I never have any coke around...................... but at least I know to hang on to the next bottle!!!

A few hours in Coke (regular, not diet) works well too.
