View Full Interactive Version Of This Page : Who has tried the new corals??

I'm a coral junkie and love all the variations it gets and am thinking about getting a few of the different shades of coral that Frantz has in stock . . . but I have a question :)

Who has tried the 420-M, mango coral? I'd like to know if it is similar to the shades of tequilla sunrise coral that were available awhile ago. It sort of looks like it is, and I already have alot of tequilla sunrise and don't want to spend the money on something I don't really need.

TIA!

I don't have any of the old coral odds to compare it with, but I have the mango. It's really orange, and of the three corals I have, it's the lightest.

I have all the current odds and some old ones, and I love them all. At $12/lb, my philosophy is "why not?"

Thanks SHeila and Kalera :)

Yeah - - you know . . .. "why not" sounds good too. It's not like I wont' like it, I already know it's one of my favorite colors. I guess I was trying to be responsible with my spending . . . . . HA!!!!! What the hell was I thinking?!?!?

Another part of my philosophy is that you can pay for the whole pound with one set of beads, or one focal! So I make myself work with every color I get immediately, so it can "earn it's keep" so to speak.

Kalera... I like your line of thinking....
Hmmm... I may have to go on a new shopping spree with that in mind... lol

And, I might add, they look WONDERFUL!!! I haven't tried them yet, have been too sick, but will be working with them this weekend.

Before I forget, I am not "Shilling" for Mike or anyone. I just think these corals look nice. If anyone has a problem with me posting this, please let me know.

I have tried both the tequilla sunrise and the mango coral. I have to say that the mango is much more orange than tequilla and it doesn't blush as beautifully as the tequilla. I clearly prefer the tequilla sunrise coral. The mango is ok if you don't have any tequilla, but hands down, I like the tequilla better.

Here is a pic of the mango.

No pink blushing going on here, but it is a nice color.

Now I want to see some Sunny Mango, Persimmon and Dark Cinnamon. Come on Mike....where's the pics?

LOW PROFILE ALERT! LE user "kimberly" has exceeded his/her Arbitrary Profile Limit. Please settle down and make more seahorses until further notice. Some more fumed ones would be nice.

I've gotten some of the Mango and Dark Cinnamon, but have I used them yet? Of course not. I'm SOOOO much better at ordering glass than using it.

Every time I see the sig quote that talks about the fine line between a hobby and a mental disorder, I think, "What line? There was a LINE?" Then I go buy some more coral glass.

I haven't tried the mango yet. I did get some to try last week at Frantz. (I am shilling for Mike though he is unaware of it.) I used the Dusty Rose coral on this goddess. It's been etched.

I have some dusty coral that I've used and really like that color too.

Hmmmm, thanks for the info on the new(er) colors Mike :)

I have about 6 different corals right now - and they are all amazingly different!
I used the mango just recently - and I love it! It's really bright compared to other corals - a little more bright than the Tequilla Sunrise. It has a lot of red in it - and that I really like. Here's the set I made.

I am also shilling for Mike when I ask - what's the difference, if any, between the "Mango" coral and the "Sunny Mango" coral? I have the "mango" but need to know if I need to run out and get some "Sunny Mango!"

tongue in cheek,

I think the Mango is the closest to Tequila Sunrise. By itself, it doesn't look the same, but some combinations look very similar to the Tequila and i have seen it blush pinkish a bit as well. So yes, you need all the new corals. I like the dusty rose too, it's a nice pink.

We have just finished taking photos of the new coral in the form of paddles. We also made some beads with all three to make sure that the bead and the paddle matched. We should post on Monday.

I just got an order from Frantz which included samples of two new trans vetrofond colors: a gold pink that looks amethyst, and an aqua-blue rod that has a very strange matte texture. haven't melted them yet - but they look tasty!

I got some cinnamon coral a few weeks ago...and I LOVE it! It is so richly colored...I have about 4 shades of coral, but I am not sure which one is which...I have to say of all the cinnamon is my biggest favorite...I used it on this:

It looks brilliant with sky blue!

I don't know about 30 lb of coral, but I probably have about 20. I must have 10 different corals by now. It's one of my favorite colors.

I was playing yesterday and this thread popped into my head. I mixed regular, cinnamon, and mango to see what I would get:

12857

The dark is cinnamon, the rosy color is regular, the orangy color is mango.

Pretty beads everyone, I appreciate the responses :)

I do have some dusty coral . . . here's a bicone focal w/ dusty coral, dk turquoise and butter yellow. I masked off the clear bumpies, the rest is etched. I really like the way it turned out!!

The Vetrofond gold pink ROCKS!! I have some and love it! The frosted rod you have is Streaky Saphire (?). This is an odd lot that there isn't much of. It is BEAUTIFUL!!!!

Hello all, this is a quick picture of two spacers I made from the same rod of dusty rose. The darker was in the flame longer than the lighter one and I use a hot head.

I have a major coral fetish...I admit it...I order coral all the time--I think I have 2# of "2005" coral & bits of random odd lots that I'm not sure what they are (I know I have a little tequila sunrise, tomato, & older stuff, but they aren't labled!! oh noooo!) plus some cinnamon, dusty rose, and I neeed the new stuff that just went up....and I can't even torch again till spring!!! At least it's not too expensive a shade to be "addicted" to, right?? ;)

I saw the new corals when I was in Tucson and the Cinnamon is the one that looked the most interesting. :)
Does anyone else have a pic. of the cinnamon?
