View Full Interactive Version Of This Page : What's a good true orange?

You all did so well pointing me in the direction of the best white, I thought I'd try this again. I am looking for a 104 opaque true deep orange...got any ideas? I tried Effetre Orange Special and it's too red (you would think with a name like that it would be perfect!) With Halloween coming orange must be a hot color ... right?

I like the Vetro Arancia Perfecto and CIM's Clockwork the best. Vetro's Candy Corn is fun, too, with white streaks in a good orange base.

Hi Karen,

I've tried Clockwork and it's a bit too intense and I don't see the other Vetro color at Frantz ... do you know who carries it? And ... thanks!!!

OH WAIT ... I FOUND IT! It;s an ODD at Franz. Does it require doing something special to get the orange? The reason I ask is Frantz has a picture by it that has a clear pic, then a slightly streaky pic, then a streakier one and then an orange. What does that mean???

CiM Creamsicle is a gorgeous true orange.

I think by nature there is no real true orange. I never seen the exact same shade of orange, not even on an Orange!
Either its too light, too red, too bright, too dark....never really orange.

But I like Lauscha, the pastel is good and if you like a juicy orange, their transparent is wonderful.

Lauscha makes a nice pastel (opaque) orange, but it's hard to find. The last time I found some at Jodel Glass, I bought all I could because, living so close to the University of Florida, orange and blue is a year-round color combination that's always in style. Here are some of my "Gator Eggs" made with that Lauscha opaque orange:
http://crackercottagestudio.com/crackercottagestudio/large/BS06-02_photos.htm

It doesn't strike to a darker shade, as some opaque oranges do.

Irene (Flamekissed) has Reichenbach Opal orange, which is exactly the same as the Lauscha orange but in thinner rods

Effetre 018 (Dark yellow) is actually a very nice orange, but more on the softer "papaya" side

The Effetre orange is very fussy. It has to be worked really cool to get it to stay orange. Of course, if you work the red too hot it will turn orange...

Love the Gator Eggs Jo!! And that's exactly the color orange I am looking for. I've put an order in at both LauschaLady and Glassdaddy since they both had that color listed on their websites but both get back to you ... you don't just order and pay. So, I'll see if either of them have it.

Thanks for the direction!

I too like the CIM creamscicle. It is almost the exact same color as my favorite orange (96 coe Gaffer - Taxi Cab yellow (aka lara's Perfect pumkin).

I'm also a CIM Creamsicle fan, it's a fabulous orange.

CIM Pumpkin, Sangre & Clockwork - all rich, luscious oranges! And I don't like orange all that much as a rule :)

All the CIM oranges seem to stay true to colour after cooling, unlike the Effetre & Vetrofond oranges. I can also encase the CIM ones without issues.

Have fun with your search!

Marianne.

I will second Marianne and say that I truly love CIM oranges becaquse they stay true! If you are doing pumpkin beads CIM pumpkin is gorgeous. If you like a more firey orangey color I would suggest Clockwork.

:lol:HONEYBELL!

I did not know that Sangre was considered an orange. I thought that it was a red translucent. I'm going color blind in my old age!

Sangre is red, blood red. I like ordinary Effetre Orancio Orange, I don't find it at all fussy. I bought it at ABR: http://www.dichroicimagery.com/product_info.php?products_id=5667

Lauscha (but...you knew I was gonna say that, right?)

Here's the link to Grace's color chart....the orange transparent is a DREAM to use (even on a hothead) & the orange opaque is juicy & "crayon" true & nearly impossible to "ruin" as well!

Thank you so much for the information on Reichenbach Opal orange, Flonche! And you're so right! Those Lauscha rods are way thick. Persoanlly, I love oranges, corals and peaches! Guess it's my sunny nature. HA!

And, Angie, thanks for the kind words about my "Gator Eggs!"

This is becoming quite an interesting thread. Not long ago, I started appreciating orange colored glass. I love all of the examples here, and hope that more people post some pics.
