Hi!! I have finally just decided I like enamel...had it for over one year...now I 'need' more colors...I looked on the Thompson website, but I am not sure what I need...what are the different sizes...I thought came in only one size...any suggestions or pointers prior to ordering would be great!!
Thanks!
I suggest that you order a sample pack and try the various colors. Wale (http://www.waleapparatus.com) has just such a pack, Item # 40-9991 (THOMPSON ENAMEL ASSORTED PACKAGE - 32 COLORS) at $35.00.
Thompson's sample kit is Item SAMP-G (Complete Pallet of Enamels for Effetre (Moretti) Glass ea.) at $26.50.
When you do decide what individual colors you like best, you can order the larger 2-oz. size.
Be sure to also order a sifter, since some of the nicest applications entail just a dusting. Sifters are shown here: http://www.thompsonenamel.com/products/tools/grinding.htm. There are three sizes (SM-1, SM-2, and SM-3) and each is so inexpensive that it wouldn't hurt to order one of each.
For some advice and more info, see Enamels, here: http://www.sgb-midatlantic.org/how-tos.html#Using Enamels

Frantz also has a sample kit -- I think it has 40 colors (with the new transparent enamels).
I don't know about different sizes, but the series number (9000, 7000, etc) tells which COE it's made for.
