Question about Silvered Ivory

I would like to make some beads with silvered ivory, and then swirl, dot, etc. many other colors over the silvered ivory. I have seen many gorgeous beads where the silvered ivory has a nice "antique" soft weathered look- but not totally dark grey, like a dark stone. When I wrap my ivory bead in a piece of silver and then burn off, my bead is so so DARK. I would like a lighter look instead.

I am using great silver from glass diversions. What am I doing wrong?

Are you using silver foil or leaf? Leaf will give you a lighter coloration...also, depending on how you change your oxygen/propane mix will effect the coloration too....

Try fuming it instead of using leaf or foil.
