We've just bought a new house which has a shed in the backyard. MY shed!! It's about 8'x10'. The plan is to convert it into a studio so I'm looking for the best tips you can offer. What is the one thing you are SO glad you did, or what is the one thing you WISHED you had done when creating your studio space?

Hi Angela, how exciting. Congratulation! :)
I am glad that I got the Jerker (forgive my language. :D) computer table from IKEA as my torching table. Its perfect, the height is adjustable. Lots of room for all the stuff to put within my reach, plus I get to hand the fan right under the top shelf. Its like it was made for lampworking! Have fun setting up your new studio!

I wish I had installed my hood a little lower and had it made with baffels to more efficiently catch the torch exhaust. Doing it after the fact is a pain in the posterior.

I have baffles on my exhaust fan and love that, we put a heating system near my work area so I am always toasty warm and the window is behind me now for fresh air. I added extra lights just above the torch and its improved my ability to see the glass movement so much !!!
I just have everything accessable in the area I am sitting in. I dont have to get up for anything its all within arms reach. LOVE THAT.

Born2Snooze I love that setup. It would be perfect for my little office.

Lots of electrical power. You can never have enough. Hard to imagine how all the studio stuff can add up so fast. MORE POWER;-)
My studio is 6 x 9
My favorite thing about it is my view, so I don't feel claustrophobic!
Unfortunately it has two doors which take a lot of "real estate" away as it is a walk through.
The cart ( from Harbor Freight ) was a good moved I can bring it closer or move it out of the way when I'm not using the studio.

What PJ said!
And put your torch in the corner (sitting like a punished little kid) you have everything in easy reach on each side, wish I could do that but torch was added after the stained/fusing glass
Congratulations Angela. How exciting!
Eventually I'll be in my partially constructed studio. One thing I made sure of is to position my torch without a window in front of it. If I have too much natural light on the other side of it, I have a hard time seeing what's going on. DH had the idea of putting a metal roof on the building. I'm afraid I'll have to spend the night out there any time it's raining just to listen to that sound.
