Hi, my friend is a breast cancer survivor and attends a support group with other women who are either survivors or have recently been diagnosed.
She has become very friendly with many of them. She wants me to create some beads for her group to give as holiday presents. She is going to design the jewelry herself. She loves the look of aged ivory (crackeled from reduction glass) but wants me to incorporate pink with it. I have been having a difficult time coming up with something that works together. Every pink I have tried turns brown with the ivory. Does anybody know of a combination of pink and ivory that plays nice together? Any ideas would be much appreciated.

you could try encasing the pink . use either clear or another pink . ivory swallows most other glass , so try not to melt the design in too much.

Maybe encasing the pink with some clear would keep it nice? Never tried it myself, but might work.

I guess I could always encase the pink and use a silver glass on the ivory to get that aged look. thanks, I'll give that a try.

Try vanilla ice (lauscha) instead of ivory--it will fume itself to lovely creamy shades if you cook it enough & I don't think it's as prone to the same issues as moretti/effetre ivorys. With any of the lauscha pinks you should get the colors you're looking for.

Have you tried enamel? Like Pink Orchid by Thompson? I have made beads with light Ivory, lentil shapes, then rolled in the enamel. You could perhaps put the ribbon symbol over the enamel in Ivory as well for a nice organic look...
I don't have any pictures of the combo, but here is the general idea in other colors, not with the ribbon though.. just an idea- good luck!

I've only tried dark ivory with pink. the pinks that I've tried that turned brown were Moretti light and dark pastel, rubino & evil purple. They looked horrible! Not the kind of brown that I would get excited about but check it out for yourself Kathy.
Thanks for the idea on the enamels...those beads are very pretty! I bought an assortment of Lauscha Pinks a while back and forgot all about them. I'm going to give them a try and see what happens. thanks everybody for your help.
If you have any Aurae, it gives you a gorgeous crackled effect over dark ivory, and you can reduce it and spot-encase it with transparent pink for a really beautiful pink iridescent-lens effect:

oh, also you might try putting down white or clear on top of the ivory, and put your pink on top of that.

Kalera, Your beads are so pretty.
Silver pink moretti is a really nice pale color that to me, does not look very pink at all, but a bone/ivory white. I've used this as a base color whenever I need to place any pinks like gold ruby on top.
This is a link to a sold item on etsy that shows a set of beads made with silver pink moretti. http://www.etsy.com/view_transaction.php?transaction_id=19570726
