View Full Interactive Version Of This Page : Clear 96 COE
What is your favorite 96 Coe clear and why. I have been using Gaffer Eco Clear, but I'm not super happy with it. It get a lot of little bubbles and the rods have tiny diameter. I have R100 clear and LOVE IT, but it is leaded.
Any other ones you like?
I use Uroboros clear - love it.
System 96 (Urobos) all the way!
Hmmm.... I haven't tried any of that. Do y'all have a distributor you like?
Here is another clear related question.
When I use the Gaffer Eco Clear it doesn't not spread and the colors from the bottom seep up into the bead (get this a little with 104 colors, but as you know the 96 blowing colors do this more so). I can compensate, but I found with the R100 lead clear, it spreads over the top of the bead and down to the mandrel. It is wonderful.
How does the Urobos act?

I love Uroboros clear. It's simple, stable, and totally predictable. AND the nicest clear I've used of any COE. It tends to melt a bit faster that most of the colored glass, so it's a breeze to encase with.
I also like Kugler unleaded, which is terrific with reactive colors and with silver because it won't yellow the metal or fume itself.

Another vote for Uroboros.
Well geez. I was attempting a complete switch over to 96coe because I love the color intensity. What stopped me in my tracks was the crappy reichenbach leaded clear that I bought. I was told the uroboros clear sucked- the get the leaded clear. So I did. I hate it.
I'm definitely going to have to try the uroboros clear for myself and maybe I can get back on track again.
Thanks for starting this thread.

Uroboros clear is the bestest!! And you can get it from OCR, Lara. (Aren't you semi-close?)

Compared to the scummy Moretti clear, I even like Gaffer clear in their thin little rods. If you melt it high in the flame, it goes on like butter and is nice and clear.
Thanks everyone. Mary, I'm LOVING the leaded clear. I don't want to use it, but it is so clear and pretty. It goes on looking kinda yellow and bubbly, but comes out looking crystal clear.
Off to find some Urobors.
