I made some red and green beads yesterday. While they were hot I thought the red looked burnt and was a bit ticked. The green looked OK. Today getting them out of the kiln the red looks fine but the green looks like poop. #-o I'm making the triangle type beads with dots of green and white and clear repeat and on the other side with red, white and clear. With a clear base and casing. No I don't know which green I used. I just grabed a green stringer that looked the right shade.
What green do you use?

I use whichever green is closest at hand. Some of the darker ones, esp the mosaic green (Effetre) get funky if not gathered well.

I'm not sure what you mean by 'gathered well'?

I agree with Wes...stay away from Mosaic for Christmas  - it tends to "swirl" a bit on me and I end up with streaks.
For Opaque, I just use Moretti Grass Green (rods for murrini or base bead building; stringers for peppermint beads): http://www.lampworksupplies.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=35_37&products_id=678&zenid=g21av6995unt88o5t1d2n2o3m6
For Transparent, I use Moretti Dark Emerald Green (various applications): http://www.lampworksupplies.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=35_37&products_id=643&zenid=g21av6995unt88o5t1d2n2o3m6)
Here's an example of both colors in use:

Hope this helps!

You probably don't make huge gathers when making beads, but if you're making a big gather and don't want those swirls it REALLY helps if it's gathered without folding/mixing, which is a big reason for those swirls. I guess that also means that if you're adding dots or otherwise applying a color such as mosaic, that you're going to get those swirls as well.

Effetre's Pine Green (alabaster) is perfect for Christmas trees, wreaths, etc. It IS an alabastard, however and I know lots of folks don't care to use them! but I just can't find another green that gives me the color I want for those beads.
