I am going to upgrade one item at a time from my hothead large tank set up to a big girl torch and a concentrator. \\:D/
I figured I would get one item a month and set up a shop in the shed this summer.
I was going to get a minor burner but I want to get some recommendations from you guys. I want to keep the torch cost under 250. if I can but I was wondering if there was something better than a minor burner in that range I should be looking at?
I am not going to do boro just morretti and maybe bullseye someday. I do mostly medsize to small beads and lots of sculptured beads. I would like something that I could get a small flame on for detail work. I also want something that will run well on one concentrator.
Thanks in advance for your help

I recently upgraded from a HH to a mini cc run on NG and an oxy con. I love my new set up. I can adjust the flame on the mini and go from bushy to fine for the detail work. I purchased my mini from Carlisle, they are great people to work with. My torch included a DVD, sample boro pack (haven't gone there yet LOL) and I added a torch mounted marver. I got a great deal as I had taken a class at Carlisle and they had given me a $25 gift cert. that applied to the torch, but I think you can get this torch for $189.

A Minor is a fine torch, it's what I have at home. But I took a class, and worked on a Mini CC, and preferred it. I found it more flexible. The Mini is in the same price range, particularly if you keep your eye out for a sale.

I will have to look into the mini cc. If it is more flexible it might be better for all the bead sculpting I do.

I would recommend a Bobcat, naturally. One of the best features is the GTT cooling system. The torch body remains cool to the touch while it is running. The valves certainly don't get hot.
The Bobcat has a bigger flame shoulder than a mini cc or a minor. It can also get down very tight for fine detail work.
The Bobcat can be run on natural gas at regular household pressure. It can also be run on a single concentrator.

Will the bobcat, mini cc and minor all work with just one oxygen concentrator?
I really don't want to get one right now that needs 2.
I also am going to stay with propane not natural gas so will all three work on that?
Like I said I need help.

I upgrated recently and always thought I would get a minor, but I ended up buying a mini. I like the range of the torch and the heat. It was just fine on one oxy concentrator. Rarely I want more heat, but I would need 2 oxy conc. or tanked O2, but moving up from the HH, the heat is so much more.
WHOO HOO new toys for Ruth.

I would go with the bobcat, I run mine on propane w/ 1 oxygen concentrator and I do medium to long beads and I am fine. Wonderfull pinpoint flame for detail!
