I am wondering where I might find some inexpensive electric heat elements? I read on another board that someone bought enough elements for a mailbox kiln for like $10.
Any additional information on buidling a kiln would be appreciated.
Thanks,

I wish I could help, but I've never done it before. I just posted to beg you to post pics of your progress! :) I may never do it myself but I'm really curious.

Hey
I ran across the plans for those too, some of them use dryer or kitchen range replacement elements. Looked like fun, if you have a spare dryer outlet handy. Here is a linkto one: http://www.joppaglass.com/mailbox_kiln/mailbox.html
There is also a good book called Lil Bertha - a compact electric resistance shop furnace, by David Gingery. It has some good instructions on how to build one from the ground up. Theres a good section on building a temperature controller, and how to calculate your heat and power requirements. Found my copy at Powells.com for about ten bucks, worth every penny.8)
Have fun,

Nope.... Just have a huge selection of bookmarks, which only a small portion (maybe 150) have to do with glass...
