DH frit question

Haven't had too much luck in getting the desired colors with DH glass rods, so I just bought some DH frit. Elektra 2.1, Khaos and Aion2 are named on the labels - all medium size. I figured I'd give the frit a try - no accounting for my reasoning on that. But I would like anyone's suggestions as to how to treat them? Have you experienced satisfactory results using a base bead of white, ivory, clear or what? And is it better to encase or not? Thanks for any suggestions, results, and/or pictures, ahead of time.

Khaos will work well on top of something like ivory, vetro yellow ice, CIM stone ground, basically any of the reactive neutral shades. With Aion, I'd use it over a light to medium transparent purple, amethyst, or topax, reduce, and encase. But that's just me :)
