Hi, I would like to make a suncatcher for a window, but I am unsure of
what to use to string it with, so I need some advice. I wanted a multi
string one with beads & crystals hanging from each of it's sections. How
& with what would I use to form the sections. It would have to be something
light weight & ridgid to support the weight of glass beads & crystals. Also
how would you tie the string so that it doesn't come loose or look like an unsightly knot? Any suggestions or anyone seen a suitable tutorial? Thanks

I would suggest you use tiger tail or other brandname of similar product. It is a fine stainless steel wire. You use a crimp to close off the ends. They look like a small seed beed but are made from metal and you pinch them closed and it holds the end in place. Same sort of stuff that you use for string a necklace or bracelet.

yes use something like tiger tail...don't use monofiliment fishing type line, especially in the sun...it will fail, don't ask how I know this!!!

I have made a multi armed mobile, suspeding about 20 beads using galvanized wire of a heavy gauge for the main structure. Then a thinner gauge wire to hang the beads. I liked this better than tigertail as I actually threaded these wires with glass seed beads and then wrapped them around wooden chopsticks to make spirals.
This has been hanging in my kitchen window now for 3 years and is a favorite perch for hummingbirds. Amazingly enough, they are light enough to not unbalance the mobile.

I would lover to see a picture of your multi armed mobile using wire. It sounds very creative and fun.

I use the hellaciously expensive fishing line that I can't remember the name of. I figure if you can catch a HUMONGO fish and it doesn't break, it'll hold small pieces of glass no problemo.
