Well, I'm finally getting around to trying some double helix kronos, I got a while back and I can't get it to do squat!! :-? Can anyone offer some tips on working with this glass? Thanks!

I can't offer any tips, but if you get too frustrated, I can take it away from you! ;-)
Anyway, here's some tips about other double helix glass - maybe the same things will work?

Hi,
The Kronos is struck by forming a bead hot, then allowing the orange glow to go away, then reheating the bead gently in the back portion of a soft neutral to slightly reducing flame. This allows the silver crystals to grow and produce a range of blue, green, and creamy tones. Alternatively, the slightly cooled bead can be flashed repeatedly closer to the burner face to initiate the striking, then moved further out to complete the crystal growth. It is quite possible to burn off the silver on the outside if the bead is heated too much after striking. I hope this helps.

Oh, and encasing with clear or a tint color after striking will trap the silver struck portion and protect it somewhat from burning off, unless the bead is brought to liquid hotness again. PM me if you have further questions.

Jed,
Is this how to strike all of your glass? I've seen some of the most incredible colors from your glass.

Thanks Jed, I am in love with all three double helix I have and your clear is wonderful. Frantz sent me a sample and asked me to email them after I use it and tell them how I like it. Well it is just the best for encasing, I want more!!!!
