Hi,

I need some advice. I just bought a Cattwalk press which I thought was a Zoozii's. I don't have a base. I looked on Cattwalk's website and they are a small fortune- $60 each making the press & the base $125 total.

Does anyone make an actual affordable base for such presses?

Thanks in advance for your input.

You can use them without a base, I know some do, just take your time when lining it up and pressing.

I have the base and I am annoyed because one of the screws always comes loose.

I just purchased one off of Ebay for $30. Not sure if this link will work or not. Let me know. I LOVE this one.

Send the person a message and see if they will have anymore. I'm not sure if they made it themselves or what.

If you want a second press, you can order a press/base combo she offers. It is only $80 or something like that.

GemsInBloom,

I tried to use it without the bottom and because it is a very big press, I had trouble keeping it from moving around. I'm going to try this guy I think:http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...=STRK:MEWNX:IT

Deb,

Just wrote to the guy on Ebay. Hope he has more. Looks like it'll fit my press which is 2" at the base. Thanks again for the great connection.

Cheers,
Maryann

If you do her press deal you basically get a press for $20. You order the base and you get a tool for $60 or something so when you order the base deal, you put in the note section which tool you want to go with the base. That's how you get the bases for $20. You just have to get them when you order the presses.

The link to the guy on eBay you posted doesn't work for me.

Try screwing four l-brackets from the hardware store onto a piece of wood --- works great, and cheap

That's what I was going to say.
I made one too - all it cost me was the price
of the L brackets (about $3).
The one I made uses 3 L brackets - one side is
left open so you can slip the press in and out real easy.

Yep! I only use the fourth one so I don't have to worry about the press sliding at all. The ones on the ends have to be mounted off-center so you can get the mandrel in position to press.

I used a basic turntable, put a stainless burner cover on top, added a handle in the center, and attached several L-brackets --- wallah! A turning press holder. Works great!

I'll try to take pics tonight and post....

I don't have any idea of what you all are talking about so ictures would be good!

Man. the bracket thing is a great idea but my husband is all thumbs so if you post a pic, that would be great and I can maybe do it myself! Especially with the economy the way it is now. Every penny helps.

Here's the guy from Ebay's email: trozzo51@yahoo.com

He wrote back to me & said that he had 4 bases almost ready to go.

Here ya go.

If you wanted to add the 4th L Bracket to the front, you could
do that to keep it from slipping, but I've never needed it for me.

The ones on either side should be off to the side though - one to the front and one to the back to allow for the mandrel in the middle :)

Here are a couple of pictures of my turntable. I ended up using 5 brackets per press for the large presses, but I'm sure if you play around with the positioning you'll figure out what works best for your press.

(Sorry about the fuzzy pic...)
