I was taking pictures of some beads when I noticed tiny little cracks in the surface decoration. It's only in a few beads, but I was wondering if the rest of the beads will soon be showing little cracks? I can't remember if the black was effetre or vetrofond-would that make a difference? I also have no clue what batch of coral this was from, but I made some other beads with regular coral, and they aren't crazing at all.

Bummer! To me that looks like an incompatability problem. If it was a heat problem it would most likely go from hole to hole. I have discovered that if one bead in a batch starts looking like that, the rest will eventually too. :(

Do you have clear over the coral? Coral does not like to be encased, for me at least!

It's not encased at all, just coral over black. This sucks! Well, at least it happened now, and not after I'd sold it.

I have been having this problem with the more yellow shade of coral that is out there....can't tell for sure but yours looks like it is also on the yellow side? It's the same crazing that I get if I do encaesd stringer work with lausha hawaiian purple....heck, with alot of the lausha colors! I encase with lausha, so I didn't think it would be a problem, but it apparentaly is, lol. Sure seems like there is an incompatibility issue with some of these so-called "compatible" colors and glasses........
I'm goingt o try putting my beads in the kiln just a bit hotter and soaking longer at a tiny bit hotter as well, will post if it works!
