View Full Interactive Version Of This Page : Are Translucent Red and Rainbow Red the same?

I bought some glass lalst August and I was told it was Translucent Red.
That was before I was paying attention to the numbers.
No I am looking to find it and not having any luck.

The Rainbow Red rods are more opaque looking and the Striker Red is clear
The rods I orininally had genuinely look translucent.

I found a Lauscha transparent striker that looks like it - could that be it?

I would aprpeciate any ideas or help.

Thanks!

Sounds like Lauscha to me. On glassdaddy.com there is a good write up on that red. It's not rainbow red. At least not the one that I have which can't be called red on a good day. ](*,)

It does sound like Lauscha seni/transparent red.

Thanks for the ideas...I saw the Lauscha red and it looks like what I bought.

I neglected to say that I got it from a seller who only carries vetro/moretti/effetre...

Now I am more inclined to think it was an old batch of rainbow red....

Rainbow red is the name of a vetrofond odd lot. I'm not sure if Lauscha has a rainbow red as well.

Try making a plain round or spacer bead with what you have, and flame strike it like you would with regular transparent red - if it turns a very, very dark red it's probably the Rainbow Red. (no matter what the rod looks like, it always turns a black cherry color for me - one of my favorites!) I've never tried it, but after looking at Glassdaddy's Lauscha selection, I would wager that the Lauscha Red Striker is much lighter than the Rainbow Red, (in bead form, that is.) My bundles are labeled two different ways - Rainbow Red, and Red Striking Trans., but both were assigned the same number, which is 903.

It seems to me the Rainbow Red (deep cherry color) is going to be closer to the new dark red from Lauscha (Deep berry at Jodel, on the "what's new" page of Glass Daddy and dark red at Lauscha Lady).

Some of my Rainbow Red is labeled Red Striking Trans, so maybe that is what you got.

I just looked again at the Glass Daddy site -- realized there's no actual photo of the color, Frank just mentions that he has it and you can specify which red when you order.

The Moretti transparent red and yellow can look pretty cloudy depending. Perhaps that's why your previous red looks more opaque.

I'd like to check out the new Lauscha color...sounds nice. Their current transparent red is too acid for me.

I've got about 20 different reds. If you could show me a picture, I might be able to pinpoint it for you. Since different cameras and monitors show colors differently, it would help if you showed 2 or 3 different reds together in the picture for reference.
